Five internal competitions are held throughout each annual season. In each, there are two sections:
Digitally Projected Images (DPIs).
Generally, three of the competitions are open and two are themed.
Any (paid-up) member may and is encouraged to enter up to 3 Prints and up to 3 DPIs in each competition. These images may be colour, monochrome or a mixture.
All entries must be the member’s own work, and can originate from a film or digital camera, or be prepared from scanned transparencies, negatives, photographic prints or as photograms. Note: Only fully-owned images may be submitted to the Club for competitions.
Entries for Open competitions should have been taken recently, or if older, should be substantially re-worked. Pictures for the themed competitions should have been taken since the last AGM, when the relevant subject was agreed.
For each competition a certificate is awarded to the top three winners in each section (Prints and DPIs).
At the end of the season, four trophies are presented.
1. to the overall winner in the print section;
2. to the overall winner in the DPI section;
i.e the members gaining most points in each section over the five competitions;
3. to the Photographer of the Year, being the member gaining most points in total, i.e. from both the Prints and DPIs sections;
4. a Merit Award to the eligible member gaining most overall points. Eligibility restricted to new members and those of the membership with less winning success in prior seasons.
The club enters external competitions competing against other camera clubs; arrangements for collecting entries for these are announced separately.
